Kelly Andrew Brown (Kelly) has 19 years of experience in entrepreneurial organizations.
Kelly started the Small Business Guru blog in 2006 after serving five years as the Chief Operating Officer and Marketing Director for a wonderful publishing organization based in Canton, Ohio. He still works for the company today — and plans to keep it that way. He uses this blog to explore new concepts, experiment with new ideas, and interact a community of colleagues.
Kelly’s passion is business. He loves learning and teaching others how to grow and manage their business.
Kelly is a CPA. While he no longer practices public accounting and feigns ignorance when asked for tax advice, he does know his debits from his credits and is a whiz when it comes to P&Ls and spread sheet analysis.
Kelly is NOT a ‘business guru.’ Contrary to the title of his blog, he makes no claims about being ‘the’ guru of anything. He believes you as a business owner should seek to be your own guru through education and peer interaction. The answers are out there and are as old as time, you just need to know where to look and who to ask.
Kelly doesn’t believe in Fad Management - Kelly is old school. He ascribes to philosophies of the Carnegies (both Andrew & Dale), Wunderman, Covey, & Allen.
Kelly’s wife is pretty darn cool Married for 5 years he’s still in the honeymoon phase of his marriage and is extremely thankful to have lucked into meeting such a wonderful woman. Further, his (now) teenage step-daughter, Morgan, is pretty wonderful as well . Kelly’s currently shopping for baseball bats to fend off any young lads coming to the door.
Kelly loves his dogs. His family includes two dogs - Chip & Bubba. He’s frequently been caught by his wife speaking baby-talk in a disgustingly saccharine tone. But he’s not embarrassed by that at all.
Kelly likes talking about himself in the 3rd person. Well, not really but he’s following the standard set by a number of bloggers who (whom?) he respects.
